8-9 Weeks of Skate Ministry in Mi & Il
Vision: There are over 2000 skaters who come to Battleground with more than 80% of them that would not want to come to church, even if invited. We have a goal to bring the love of Christ to every single one, right where they are at, by making disciples who make disciples. Would you like to join us in this?
The internship is a hands on training in obeying Jesus and multiplying disciples. We use action sports as a way to connect to people and bring them hope. There will be lots of opportunity to practice sharing the gospel and helping others grow in faith and following. You’ll get a short amount of classroom time and a big amount of DOING IT!
There will also be LOTS of time for skating (or BMX/scooters). While a big part of most weeks will be working at our indoor park in Battle Creek, MI, you will also:
- Help host a skate contest and outreach in Illinois
- Travel to skateparks around Michigan to do ministry
- Join with area churches to put on youth skate camps locally
- Meet with our discipleship groups to grow and learn together what it means to follow Jesus with ACTIONS, not just words…
This is ACTION sports, after all!
Housing is with one of our volunteer leaders and his wife about 8 miles from Battleground in the country so you need your own transportation to and from the park and some outreaches. On trips, you may do a small amount of camping out, but most travel will be day trips. Be prepared to jump in and work hard some days and take it slow others, spending more time one on one with staff and participants. Flexibility and a heart to serve are a big plus on our team.
Age Requirement: 18+ years
Expenses: You will need to raise 800.00 to cover lodging, food and other ministry travel costs plus we recommend you bring a weekly amount for your own gas and spending money. Fundraising training is available.
